Taking Back our Airways
According to a Gallup poll, an estimated 22 per cent of Americans get their daily news from talk radio. Unfortunately, talk radio is also a medium that is dominated by right wing Republican talk show hosts. Hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Bill O'Reilly feed radio listeners a steady stream of distortions and outright lies, which of course serves the right wing agenda.
That is why it is so important for Democrats to support the few progressive talk radio outlets that exist. If we can change the balance of news that is being fed to the American people we can change the political landscape.
Air America Radio Network
Air America Air America Radio Network is a new liberal/progressive talk radio network. Some folks haven’t been content to wait on a political regime change to refund our public broadcasting system, or for a revitalized economy to trickle some bucks back into community radio’s coffers. American Radio Network, aka Air America Radio, is a private sector response to the current one-sided world of AM rightwing call-in shows.
The brainchild of Harvard grad and Saturday Night Alumnus Al Franken, Air America Radio has put a dent in Rush Limbaugh’s ratings, actually beating the Limbloviator in key demographic groups in head-to-head matchups in New York and other major metro areas.
